Led by General Manager Sean Yule and Sales and Marketing Director Laura Martin, our dedicated team members are here because they want to be. Their enthusiasm for nurturing a community where seniors thrive and enjoy life is palpable each and every day. They view it as an honor to be entrusted with caring for Bartlett Reserve residents.


Sean M. Yule, Executive Director


Sean brings almost 20 years of senior living and hospitality experience to Bartlett Reserve. His career has taken him to communities in Atlanta, Arlington, Bethesda, Raleigh, and Durham. Sean is a customer service driven professional and excels in creating and managing incredible living environments for seniors.

Sean has served in both Independent Living and Assisted Living Communities throughout his career, but it is Independent Living where he got his start back in 1998 and it is in Independent Living that he finds the most joy. “There is nothing more rewarding than helping a Resident keep and maintain their independence and creating a community and culture where that is not just a saying but is lived out every day…it is incredibly fulfilling.”

In the 4 years that Bartlett Reserve has been open, Sean has strived to ensure that the Residents receive the highest level of service possible and is often adjusting to meet the ever-changing needs of the Residents. This commitment to excellence is demonstrated by the incredible team assembled at Bartlett Reserve. “The team here is willing to sacrifice so much for our Residents, it is truly a family environment.” Sean leads by example and hopes that his desire to serve the Residents will be reflected in the entire Team at Bartlett Reserve.

Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, Sean moved to the mainland to attend Kent State University, where he majored in Business Management. Sean moved to the Triangle area in 2009 and currently calls Chapel Hill home. He lives with his wife Kristy, their two daughters Hannah and Olivia, and the family's Kerry Blue Terrier named Katie.

Laura Martin, Sales and Marketing Director


Laura has dedicated her professional career to providing the highest level of service to seniors in order to ensure optimum quality of life is achieved. A recognized leader in her field, Laura has over twenty years of experience in the senior living industry, caring for seniors and guiding them through this most important decision on life's journey. Her success comes from her compassion, knowledge and dedication to the seniors she serves. Laura's goal is satisfied residents and families. She aims to see that their needs, preferences, and expectations are not only met, but surpassed.

As a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Laura is dedicated to helping seniors, their loved ones and the professionals that serve them to make well-informed decisions when it comes to senior living options. Together, they formulate a plan to present a step by step formula that offers you the most comprehensive package in order for you to make your best decision.  Laura considers it not only an honor, but a privilege to be guiding seniors through this most important phase of their lives.

During her career, Laura has been awarded many accolades including, Highest Satisfaction Rate Among Customers in 2009, Fastest Census Growth in 2010, and Salesperson of the Year in 2011. She has also been instrumental in Bartlett Reserve being awarded the Best Retirement Community, in the Reader's Choice Awards for the Durham and Chapel Hill Herald in 2015, and repeating again in 2016. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 Bartlett was awarded the "Best Of Senior Living," as the community consistently receives 5 Star Ratings and glowing reviews on the nation's top senior living website, senioradvisor.com.  Laura is involved with many different senior organizations throughout the local community, including The Durham Partnership for Seniors(DPfS), the Congregational Care Committee of her church and the Chapel Hill and Durham Eldercare Resources group of Triangle professionals (CHADER). She is also a member of the NC Coalition On Aging (NCCOA), and the Friends of Residents in Long Term Care (FORLTC).

Laura earned her B.A. in Sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a concentration in Business Administration. In her free time she enjoys chasing after her two kids, all sports and being on the water.

walterene logan, Food and Beverage Director


Walterene has been working in the food service industry, since the young age of 16. She joined the military at age 19, where she became a Culinary Specialist, spending almost 13 years in the US Navy defending our country, traveling the world and learning different cultures and techniques. In 2013, she completed her military service and continued expanding her knowledge of the Culinary Arts by attending the Art Institute of Raleigh Durham where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management and began working at Bartlett Reserve, but she wasn’t done yet. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Business Management in 2018. Walterene is a real “go-getter,” who enjoys challenges, as you can tell from her background, and we are so lucky to have her leading our Dining Team.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 4 children and watching Japanese anime shows with her husband, but tops on her fun list is “dance night,” where her kids try to teach her all the newest dance moves! She also enjoys volunteering at church in the choir and the children’s ministry.

yanni madonis, Maintenance Director


Yanni Madonis is a repair, remodel and restoration contractor with many years of experience in construction and maintenance. He was heavily involved in Bartlett Reserve’s original transformation from the hotel to the amazing senior living community it is today, as well as taking the lead on several projects in between. Yanni’s first hand experience with our community’s original renovation dating back to 2013, has proved invaluable with regards to every aspect of the day to day happenings at Bartlett Reserve. He brings his knowledge and expertise in building and repair, along with lots of energy and his keen respect and appreciation of our residents, to his work as our Director of Maintenance. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and cooking and philosophical discussions about nearly any topic.


Torie Woodell, Life Enrichment Director


Torie Woodell is Bartlett Reserve’s Life Enrichment Director, and she gets the pleasure of running  the most “FUN” department of all!  With her outgoing and vibrant personality she keeps the Residents engaged, involved and moving……and of course, having FUN!  Torie has been with us at Bartlett Reserve for 3 years now, and enjoys leading the life enrichment team as well as the transportation department.  She graduated from Barton College in Wilson, NC in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology and a Minor in Social Work.  Torie was led to the Senior Care field when her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at an early age, and she feels very passionate about her role in our community, especially in making a difference in senior’s lives, every single day. Torie is extremely dedicated to meeting the needs for all the Residents at Bartlett Reserve, regardless of their differing abilities and interests.  Quite a task considering the wonderful diversity of our population, but she says that’s part of what makes each interaction so very special.  Outside of work, Torie enjoys snuggling with her Black Lab and spending time with her family. Torie is very thankful to call Bartlett her home and is happy to know she can grow in her career path here.
