Led by General Manager Sean Yule and Sales and Marketing Director Laura Martin, our dedicated team members are here because they want to be. Their enthusiasm for nurturing a community where seniors thrive and enjoy life is palpable each and every day. They view it as an honor to be entrusted with caring for Bartlett Reserve residents.


Sean M. Yule, General Manager


Sean brings over fifteen years of senior living and hospitality experience to Bartlett Reserve. His career has taken him to communities in Atlanta, Arlington, Bethesda, Raleigh, and Durham. Sean is a customer service driven professional with experience creating and managing incredible living environments for seniors.

Sean has served in both Independent Living and Assisted Living Communities throughout his career. Most recently he served as the Assisted Living Coordinator at an Assisted Living Community in Raleigh. This position gave him the opportunity to develop and work alongside a team that earned the community its second consecutive deficiency free state survey and the honor of becoming a four star rated community. He has also served as the Director of Resident Services at an Independent Senior Living Community in Durham where he developed, implemented, and managed the Activities Department and the Independence Plus Program, which allowed residents to remain in their apartments and as independent as possible through the services of various home health and hospice agencies, therapy companies and home aide agencies.

Sean has a firm belief that the residents at Bartlett Reserve should receive the highest level of service possible. It is this belief that drives his willingness to assist with things like dinner service in the dining room, driving the bus to a special event, and even hanging pictures in a resident's room. Sean leads by example and hopes that his desire to serve the guests will be reflected in all of the staff at Bartlett Reserve.

Born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii, Sean moved to the mainland to attend Kent State University, where he majored in Business Management. Sean moved to the Triangle area in 2009 and currently calls Chapel Hill home. He lives with his wife Kristy, their two daughters Hannah and Olivia, and the family's Kerry Blue Terrier named Katie.

Laura E. Martin, Sales and Marketing Director


Laura has dedicated her professional career to providing the highest level of service to seniors in order to ensure optimum quality of life is achieved. A recognized leader in her field, Laura has over twenty years of experience in the senior living industry, caring for seniors and guiding them through this most important decision on life's journey. Her success comes from her compassion, knowledge and dedication to the seniors she serves. Laura's goal is satisfied residents families. She aims to see that their needs, preferences, and expectations are not only met, but surpassed.

As a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Laura is dedicated to helping seniors, their loved ones and the professionals that serve them to make well-informed decisions when it comes to senior living options. Together, they formulate a plan to present a step by step formula that offers you the most comprehensive package in order for you to make your decision.

During her career, Laura has been awarded many accolades including, Highest Satisfaction Rate Among Customers in 2009, Fastest Census Growth in 2010, and Salesperson of the Year in 2011. She has also been instrumental in Bartlett Reserve being awarded the Best Retirement Community, in the Reader's Choice Awards for the Durham and Chapel Hill Herald in 2015, and repeating again in 2016. Laura is involved with many different senior organizations throughout the local community, including The Durham Partnership for Seniors, the Pastoral Care Committee of her church, and was recently appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve on the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee for Durham County. Laura considers it not only an honor, but a privilege to be guiding seniors through this most important phase of their lives.

Laura earned her B.A. in Sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with a concentration in Business Administration. In her free time she enjoys chasing after her two kids and being on the water.

Deborah Johnson, Food and Beverage Director


Deborah brings over thirty years of food service experience from humble beginnings as a server at the Angus Barn to owning and operating her own restaurants. She is dedicated to providing great food and service in the dining room for Bartlett Reserve residents. She genuinely cares for the health and well-being of each member of the Bartlett Reserve community. Deborah is also proud to provide guidance and training to each of her dining staff.

Before joining Barlett Reserve, Deborah was Dining Services Manager and Food and Beverage Director at independent and assisted living communities in nearby Raleigh.

In addition to a lifetime of food service experience, Deborah also attended Wake Technical Community College to study Culinary Technology and Food Service Management.

Deborah lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina with her husband of thirty-four years and their two dogs. The couple has two children and a grandson. When she isn't at Bartlett Reserve, you'll find Deborah camping, gardening, or spending time with her family.
