Marc Bika – Executive Director
Marc Bika was born in Hermitage, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Duquesne University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration. He began his professional career in the hospitality industry as an overnight bookkeeper with Marriott, steadily advancing through leadership roles over an 18-year career with both Marriott and Hilton properties. During the latter half of his hospitality career, Marc served as a General Manager, leading hotel operations with a strong focus on service excellence, financial performance, and team development.
For the past five years, Marc has brought his operational and leadership experience to the senior living industry in a similar executive role. This transition has been a life-changing career move, deepening his commitment to serving older adults and fostering vibrant, service-driven communities. He is passionate about continuing to grow and evolve within senior living, where purpose and leadership intersect in meaningful ways.
Outside of work, Marc lives with his wife, Francesca. He is an avid sports fan, especially football and hockey, and proudly cheers for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins. He enjoys staying active and plays ball hockey in the Raleigh Ball Hockey League. In his downtime, Marc is an enthusiastic reader who enjoys spending his free time with a good book.
Anthony (A.J.) Barrett – Dining Services Director
A.J. Barrett is an accomplished Dining Services Director with over fifteen years of experience in the food service industry, encompassing a wide range of culinary styles from Southern homestyle to classical French fine dining. For the past six years, he has dedicated his expertise to senior living. Most recently A.J. began working at Kisco Senior Living as a prep cook and rapidly advanced to the position of Executive Chef, driven by a commitment to core principles that emphasize integrity, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. These values will guide his leadership of the dining department at Bartlett Reserve. A.J. holds a deep appreciation for both his professional and personal life. He has been happily married to Emily Barrett for two years following their wedding in Sicily, Italy. Together, they enjoy exploring new destinations in search of adventure. In addition to his passion for travel, A.J. also competes nationwide in the sport of paintball, serving as the captain of the Raleigh Razorbacks team in the Major League of Paintball. Notably, in November 2024, he and his team achieved world champion status by securing first place among the top seventy teams at the World Cup Championships of Paintball.
Karen Camara – Sales & Marketing Director
Karen is a seasoned sales and marketing executive with over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including the past 4 years specializing in senior living. Known for driving strong occupancy growth, she brings a passion for connecting seniors and their families with the lifestyle, care, and confidence they deserve.
As Sales & Marketing Director at Bartlett Reserve, Karen is excited to bring her industry knowledge, hospitality mindset, and unwavering commitment to excellence to support the community’s growth under Charter Senior Living’s respected brand. She believes that every interaction is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference—and that sales success is best built on integrity, trust, and genuine care.
Karen is originally from the Boston, MA area and has called North Carolina home for the past 13 years. A lifelong Boston sports fan, she especially treasures cheering on her beloved New England Patriots. Cape Cod is her “happy place,” where she enjoys relaxing by the ocean and making memories with loved ones. Karen loves traveling with her husband, Dan, and cherishes time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
